CLIPZ :
A key figure in UK bass culture, CLIPZ first rose to prominence as a leading force within Roni Size’s Full Cycle collective, helping define the sound of drum & bass and jungle’s golden era.After a decade dominating dancefloors worldwide under his Redlight alias, Hugh Pescod has returned to his original CLIPZ moniker — not as a revival, but as a renewed expression of the culture that shaped him.
Recent years have seen CLIPZ bridge generations and scenes, from remixing Four Tet’s “Pager” to contributing across XL Recordings’ Everything Is Recorded project. His output continues to hit with precision: “Down 4”, “Again” (ft. Ms Dynamite, Jaykae & Ms Banks), and the jungle anthem “No Time” (ft. Nia Archives, Beenie Man, Shasimone & Cristale) all reaffirm his place at the forefront of contemporary bass music.
His limited dubplate project Dub Perignon — released via champagne bottle USB and instantly sold out — further underlined his deep connection to soundsystem culture, reinterpreted through a modern lens.
Where the original CLIPZ set the benchmark, the current incarnation is about everything that came before — channeling decades of experience into a forward-facing vision.
No nostalgia, no re-runs — just pure jungle spirit, recharged for now.

Roni Size率いる〈Full Cycle〉の中核として数々の名曲を生み出し、ドラム＆ベース／ジャングル黄金期を支えたCLIPZ。その後、Redlight名義で約10年にわたりハウス〜UKベースシーンを席巻してきたHugh Pescodが、再び自身の原点であるCLIPZとして帰還した。近年は、Four Tet「Pager」のリミックスや、〈XL Recordings〉からのプロジェクト「Everything Is Recorded」への参加など、ジャンルを越えた活動でも注目を集める。さらに「Down 4」「Again ft. Ms Dynamite, Jaykae & Ms Banks」、そしてNia Archives、Beenie Manらを迎えたジャングル・アンセム「No Time」など、現行シーンに直結する強力なリリースを連発。
シャンパンボトル型USBで発表された限定ダブプレート作品『Dub Perignon』は即完売し、現代におけるダブプレート文化の再解釈としても話題を呼んだ。かつてのCLIPZがベースカルチャーにおいて確固たる地位を築いた存在であったとすれば、現在のCLIPZは、そのすべてのルーツと経験を引き受けた“現在進行形”の表現である。ノスタルジーに依存することなく、ジャングルのスピリットを現代のフロアへと接続し続けている。
